about us

We have one simple mission to — make life easier for our customers. That means we’re always innovating, and it shows in our products, our technology and the ways we serve our customers.

Our History

“Give the customers what they want, when and where they want it.”

Hamish C. Smith Jr. | Metro Founder

The Metro brand is known and loved throughout Wonderland, and our iconic products are a big part of the this country’s culture. And although we’ve grown significantly over the years, our focus stays fixed on making life easier for customers. This simple idea is the reason our customer’s love us.

Innovation is in our DNA

Since 1927, Metro’s mission is to give the customers what they want, when and where they want it. As the country’s first convenience retailer, the inventor of portable coffee, self-serve soda fountains and the retail pole sign, as well as the first to make a commercial drone delivery to a customer, Metro prides itself on many firsts. And, after 90 years, we have no intention of stopping there. We continue to be customer obsessed by providing customers with new and innovative products and experiences.

Metro was built on new ideas, especially those that meet customers’ needs. We are constantly looking for innovative products and suppliers that align with our company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals including: reduced packaging and reduced energy footprint. We also look for quality, differentiation and convenience for our customers.
